ACCOMPLISHMENTSThe Consortium has played a major role in shaping the direction of the adapted physical education and therapeutic recreation professions/disciplines. Its membership has been active in promoting legislation and funding favorable to physical education and recreation for individuals with disabilities, disseminating information about PL 105-17 (IDEA), Section 504 and the Americans with Disabilities Act, and generating a growing knowledge base for the two professions/disciplines through research and demonstration.
ANNUAL CONFERENCENCPERID conducts an annual conference each summer. It often holds meetings in conjunction with the national conferences of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance and the National Recreation and Park Association.
MEMBERSHIPMembership is open to all persons who are or have been involved in personnel preparation, service delivery, demonstration, or research activity related to physical education and recreation for individuals with disabilities. University teachers of adapted physical education and therapeutic recreation as well as public school and community-based program personnel are encouraged to become members.
